Dance Parties...

Q.: Will I have a good time even if I don't know how to dance?

You'll have a great time! There are mini-lessons throughout the evening for most parties, and the people who attend the parties are really friendly and helpful. There are two separate dance floors, so if you want to get away from the crowd to practice some steps, the back studio is typically available during parties, just dance on back!

Q.: I don't think I'll know anybody at the party. Won't I be uncomfortable?

Nope. It's easy to get to know the others because "partner-changing" is built into the mini-lessons that some parties give, and because there are organized "mixer dances" that give you an opportunity to meet everyone else.

Q.: How many people usually attend?

We often have thirty to fifty people or more at our various dance parties.

Q.: What's the age range of the people who attend?

All ages are welcome, and people of all ages (adults) do attend.

Q.: How should I dress?

Wear comfortable clothing. No need for sequins and rhinestones! Please bring a change of shoes to keep the dust from the street off the dance floor. Any type of shoe is allowed, but we recommend closed-toe shoes with flexible soles that slide easily on a wooden dance floor. Non-marking soles please.

Q.: Do I need to bring anything to the dance party?

Absolutely not. You are not required to bring anything. However, if you like to cook and want to share something you've made with the people at the party, please feel free to bring finger-food.

Q.: What does the dance party cost?

The Sunday Dance Party costs $9 per person. We accept cash, checks, money orders and credit card (Visa, MC, and Discover).

Q.: Other details I should know?

The Queen City Ballroom is located at 21 Dow Street in Manchester, NH, above the Sanel Auto Parts Company. Please park only in spaces marked "Sanel Company Parking" or on the street. Avoid parking in spaces reserved for the neighboring apartment building. We are now on Facebook. Check us out at Queen City Ballroom NH, and click on "like" the page to receive instant updates.

Q.: Do I need a reservation? How do I get in touch with the studio?

No reservation needed! If you have any questions, please call the studio at (603) 622-1500.

Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will make you feel welcome, and answer any questions you may have. Use our staff as a resource in planning your dance education. Let us listen to your goals, and map out the approach that best suits you.

Just email Karen to schedule an appointment to visit us and to have a FREE consult and mini-lesson.

Q.: How long does it take to learn to dance?

That depends on your personal pace of understanding and practicing the material taught in class. It also varies greatly based on your goals and the plan you develop to achieve them. Will you take several lessons per week and practice regularly, or will you take fewer classes and practice less?

Your level of motivation is the key!

As an example, a student who takes three group classes per week and attends two practice parties per week can expect to learn the basics of seven different dances within about two months.

Committing an additional two months would allow the student to master more variations on each of the seven dances. Private lessons and specialty group classes, if taken in addition to the above, help strengthen knowledge of technique and broaden the types of dances learned.

Q.: How much will all of this cost?

Far less than you might expect! We can help you determine the approach which best suits your budget. We offer lots of different options including packages which can include various combinations of private lessons, group lessons, and party admissions. The Queen City Ballroom Membership entitles you to take any or all weekday American Style Syllabus Group Classes from Beginner to High Bronze (excludes Gold level classes). Forms of payment can be cash, checks, money orders, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, and Discover). Call 603-622-1500 or email for additional information, or make an appointment to visit the studio.

Q.: I have never danced before. Won't I feel uncomfortable?

The Queen City Ballroom offers many different levels of lessons. Beginners learn in classes surrounded by other beginners. You don't need any special background to participate in a level one class, only the desire to learn! Our instructors make every effort to make students feel comfortable with the learning process.

Q.: Does it matter whether or not I have a dance partner?

No partner is needed! At the Queen City Ballroom you'll find lots of outgoing singles and couples who enjoy making new friends. Students frequently find practice partners by attending our parties. Couples often enlarge their social circle by connecting with other couples who share dance as a hobby.

Q.: What's the average age of students at Queen City Ballroom?

We have students of all ages! Our youngest students (preteen) do best in private lessons where the parent is encouraged to attend and participate too! Teen through adult students are welcome in private or group lessons. There is no upper age limit. In fact we recommend ballroom dancing as an excellent form of mild physical exercise for our senior friends.
